With less than a week until the election, Oprah Winfrey traveled to Georgia on Thursday to campaign in the state’s close race for governor.

Oprah was campaigning on behalf of Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams, who hopes to become the first African-American woman ever elected as a governor in the U.S.

Winfrey lauded Abrams’ commitment to medicaid expansion and keeping families together, telling the crowd she “cares about the things that matter”.  Oprah even surprised voters with a little door-to-door campaigning.

Oprah doesn’t get political very often – the only other candidate she ever stumped for was Barack Obama.

Could Oprah swing the election for Abrams?  Why is Oprah trusted by so many women?
