ZIKA KITS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN

Pennsylvania officials are taking new steps to protect you and your family from the Zika virus.

The State Department of Health has put together special kits for pregnant women.

They include information about Zika, how it’s spread, and how to avoid it. Also in the kits is bug spray, and standing water tablets to kill mosquito larva.

Pregnant women can pick up the kits for free at health centers around the state.

Starting Aug. 1, Pennsylvania’s new budget package means that the per-pack tax on cigarettes will rise by $1 to help fund the city’s schools, raising the per-pack cigarette tax in Philadelphia will be $4.60.

Pennsylvania’s cigarette tax will the nation’s 10th highest cigarette tax.

The tax is supposed to generate about $430 million dollars to help balance the state’s budget.

NEW CENTER CITY TARGET STORE OPENING

A ribbon cutting ceremony happened this evening to mark the opening of a new Target store at 11th and Chestnut Streets in Center City.

The store will have its soft-opening today and grand opening on Sunday.
