Rep. Chaka Fattah was found guilty in his federal corruption trial on Tuesday.

The verdict is currently being read. He has been found guilty on 22 counts so far.

Fattah was accused of taking bribes, and misusing federal funds to pay off personal and political debts.

The government says hundreds of thousands of dollars was pilfered through racketeering, bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, and falsifying records.

According to prosecutors, the funds were taken from federal grant money, campaign contributions, and charitable donations to pay off campaign debts and to otherwise benefit Fattah and his family and friends.

Fattah lost a reelection bid in the spring primary.
