Commuters that have plans on being in and around the city of Philadelphia the weekend Pope Francis will be in town (Sept. 25-27) may want to consider alternate routes to travel or even being in the city that weekend altogether. Major road closures including highways and the Ben Franklin bridge will be in effect that weekend. The Ben Franklin will be closed from 10pm Friday, September 25,2015 thru 12noon Monday, September 28th. The Vine Street expressway will be closed both directions between the Schulkyll Express (I-76) and (I-95 as well as portions of the Schulkyll Expressway and Route 1. Meanwhile, there will be a traffic box implemented in the Center City and West Philadelphia. That will begin at 6pm and 10pm on Friday, Sept. 25th.
