The A-list businessmen are teaming up again after their successful 2014 remake of Annie. Jay Z‘s Roc Nation, Will Smith with Overbrook Entertainment and Kaptial Entertainment will serve as executive producers for a six-hour miniseries which will explore the life of Emmett Till and is scheduled to air on HBO. Sources say, there is currently a search to find a writer for the project. The project is still untitled.

Although, there hasn’t been too much details on this upcoming HBO miniseries, but we can predict it will  highlight the brutality of  14 year old Emmett Till’s murder, the African American teen who was  murdered for possibly whistling at a white woman in Money, Mississippi circa 1955.

Till’s mother insisted on an open-casket public funeral. The image of Till’s mutilated body shocked the country. Mamie’s telling of her son’s death while on a successful tour for the NAACP is regarded as a tipping point for the civil rights movement. Till’s original casket is currently sits at the Smithsonian.

The Emmett Till miniseries will not be the first time Till’s story has been told on the big and small screen, but I think this production will be effective, especially in this time and day we are currently experiencing in this country. With all the police brutality and harsh racist reality in 2016.
