NightmaresYesterday it was announced that singer Chris Brown was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder during his stay in rehab.  We all know he has a history of “acting out” but now there seems to be a medical reason for his behavior. Some may say “I knew something had to be going on with him” while others may say “bi-polar my butt, that’s just an excuse for bad behavior.” No matter what both conditions are very serious and unfortunately very common.

There is still a veil of taboo around the subject of mental illness, especially in the African American community. While many may not want to discuss the subject or find it easier to slap a “crazy” label on people and keep it movin,’ the fact is, many Americans suffer from some form of mental illness. What if there are early indicators, behaviors in children which could give parents a “heads-up” to a potential problem?
