Fox Sports Media Group and Mike Tyson will be teaming up to bring a new cable series named “Being.” It will be launched on August 17 this year and will also feature live UFC fights.  At the moment, UFC fights air on Fox’s Fuel TV and FX, but after the change, FX will no longer show any sports and Fuel will be incorporated into Fox Sports 1.

Fox Sports 1 is the new national sports network and will be a transformation of the existing Speed cable channel. In an announcement by Fox at a press conference, Fox Sports 1 will be converted from Speed TV and will be in 90 million homes. The company has rights to college basketball and football, NASCAR, soccer and UFC.

The Fuel cable network will be converted into a general sports channel, Fox Sports 2, and will coincide with the conversion of Speed channel into Fox Sports 1 this August. This is being done to rival ESPN in sports coverage. Fox Soccer is expected to be converted into a general entertainment channel.

The “Being” series featuring Mike Tyson will show him in a completely new light. The aim of the documentary style show is to give people an idea about who Tyson really is.

The reality series is a follow up for Mike Tyson from his Broadway and feature film hustle. He had also appeared in several movies and guest TV spots. The “Being” series will show him as a husband and father as well as a boxing legend.

Chase Carey, NewsCorp COO, said that the Fox Sports 1 program is a long term investment that could grow into a “multibillion dollar franchise” because of its combination of licensed sports rights and original programming.

FS1 debuts on August 17 and will feature live events of things like: college basketball, college football, NASCAR, soccer and UFC.

Another feature of FS1 is a weekday sports show, hosted by Regis Philbin, called “Rush Hour.”
