In the 274 year history of Princeton University, there has never been an African American Valedictorian. Nicholas Johnson has ended the drought becoming the first African American in the history of the university to be named Valedictorian.
The “Queen Of Soul” Aretha Franklin received her honorary Doctorate from Princeton University Tuesday June 5th at Princeton University’s commencement ceremony. The degree was kept a secret by the school until the morning of the commencement. The 70-year-old Franklin has already received and  honorary Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007.
