Black History Month started in 1926 as Negro History Week, established by a historian named Carter G. Woodson.

The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had two siblings but thousands of brothers. The preacher, scholar and civil rights leader became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, the first and oldest collegiate fraternity for African American men, on June 22nd 1952.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We remember and honor both him and his loving wife on this special day. Through it all, the couple managed to inspire people and teach everyone about love, forgiveness and strength.

Politics

The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., remains one of the most highly investigated and second-guessed murders of our time. While James Earl Ray pled guilty to killing the civil rights leader and was sentenced to life in prison, Coretta Scott King and other members of his inner circle had suggested that Dr. King was a “victim of conspiracy.”
