Philadelphia’s own & R&B Legend, Patti LaBelle in a recent interview with Andy Cohen, spoke on the Luther Vandross gay rumors that been circling the deceased singer since his death back in 2005. It was never confirmed.

Patti did confirm that her late friend Luther was in fact a homosexual but never came out to the public. LaBelle went into a brief explanation why Luther never came out about his sexuality.

LaBelle mentioned that a reason was that he didn’t want to risk losing his female fan base because they would start to think he is singing to a man.

“He had a lot of lady fans and he told me he just didn’t want to upset the world,” LaBelle said about Luther view on if he came out.

His mother could have played apart because Patti also went on to say, “Basically, he did not want his mother to be…although she might have known, but he wasn’t going to come out and say this to the world,”
