NEW MOVIE ALTER: “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”
Courtesy of HBO, the life of Henrietta Lacks is getting the movie treatment,. It was announced that the film titled “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” will premiere April 22.
Oprah Winfrey stars in the film as Deborah on a search to learn about her mother whose cells helped advance modern medicine and create the first immortal human cell line. The film chronicles Deborah’s discovery and how the unauthorized use of Lack’s cells lead to breakthrough in medicine.

Queen Latifah is set to receive the Entertainment Icon award at this year’s American Black Film Festival Honors ceremony.
The American Black Film Festival Honors will air on BET and Centric at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22, hosted by actress Regina Hall. Other honorees include Terrence Howard.
