Philly Speaks loves attending events at the Dell Music Center, the crowd knows how to come together and enjoy some great music. Saturday night (August 20th), we attended the 2nd Annual DIVAS Simply Singing presented by Sheryl Lee Ralph Hughes and the DIVA Foundation. With performances by Tweet, MackWilds, Keke Wyatt, Sheryl Lee Ralph and more, everyone was jammin’ from start to finish. Now one of our favorite performances was when Full Force performed “Ain’t My Type of Hype” from the 90’s House Party movie, we all broke out in dance. Got us hype to go home and watch the movie lol.

As much as we enjoyed the music for the event, we also have to remember why we came together for the 2nd Annual DIVAS Simply Singing concert; which is to discuss important health issues affecting African American communities, HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, Diabetes and more. We as a community need to make sure to get tested for all family-related diseases or possible health situations related to an unhealthy lifestyle. I was pleased to see the Philly Community getting tested at the outdoor vendors and getting information.

Philly Speaks had the opportunity to sit down with artist/actor Mackwilds and Music Mogul, Matthew Knowles to discuss their involvement in the concert and what’s next for them.
