Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf planned a bill signing ceremony in his state Capitol offices in Harrisburg after he signed a bill allowing wine sales in grocery stores and making other changes to how alcohol is sold.

The measure will permit licensed groceries and restaurants sell up to four bottles of takeout wine per customer, and put into law convenience store sales of beer that have begun as a result of court cases.

The legislation will allow state stores more flexibility about their hours and pricing. Consumers will be able to have wine shipped directly to them from private wine wholesalers.

The bill passed the House on Tuesday by a vote of 157 to 31. The union that represents employees of state liquor stores is strongly opposed.
