He’s best known for his smooth jump shot but next month, it may be fruit smoothies and shots of wheatgrass that put Ray Allen back in Miami’s spotlight.

In March, the two-time NBA champion and wife Shannon Allen, have announced plans to open a restaurant in the Miami area called Grown, which will feature an array of low-cost healthy, gluten-free food in a fast food setting. Upon the various items on the menu are juices, smoothies, soups, sandwiches, wraps, baked goods and coffee, all of which will cost between $4 and $18,

The idea came from dealing with Allen‘s 9-year-old son Walter’s battle with Type 1 diabetes and the struggles he and his wife found getting the right nutrient-rich food for the child.

Grown, the organic fast food restaurant promises to shake up the way we think about eating healthy.
