DEBORAH COX WILL PLAY JOSEPHINE BAKER
Deborah Cox is heading back to Broadway in the world premiere of the musical Josephine, based on the legendary performer Josephine Baker. The production is inspired by Stephen Papich’s book “Remembering Josephine” and “revolves around Baker’s stint as the star of the Folies Bergere in Paris 1939-45, after her scandalous affair with Swedish Crown Prince Gustav VI, and her heroic service in the French Resistance during World War II.”
OPRAH AND EDDIE MURPHY JOIN CAST OF RICHARD PRYOR BIOPIC
Seems as though Harvey Weinstein and Lee Daniels may have put together a terrific cast. The new additions: Oprah Winfrey will play Pryor’s grandmother, who ran a brothel and raised the iconic comic there; Eddie Murphy will play Pryor’s father, Leroy “Buck Carter” Pryor. Kate Hudson is set to play Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor. And Mike Epps is now locked to play Pryor, a role coveted by a lot of actors. Daniels, who worked with Weinstein and Winfrey on the blockbuster Lee Daniels’ The Butler, will start production in March, after wrapping up the second season of his hit Fox series Empire.

JENNIFER HUDSON REPORTEDLY WILL PLAY ARETHA FRANKLIN IN UPCOMING BIOPIC
Word on the street is that JHud potentially has a new upcoming gig. Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein is developing an Aretha Franklin biopic, and rumor has it that he is tapping Jennifer Hudson to portray the Queen of Soul. The untitled flick, which doesn’t have a release date yet, would chronicle Aretha’s rise to fame in the 1960s and 1970s. We are so here for that.
‘Straight Outta Compton’ Is No. 1 for Third Week at Box Office
If you haven’t yet seen the movie “Straight Outta Compton” you straight trippin! The N.W.A biopic came in No. 1 again in the box office for the third consecutive week, taking in about $13.2 million, with a total of $134.1 million. Big up’s to them! great movie! It isn’t too late to go check it out!
