The soul stirring song “A Change is Gonna Come” captured the sentiment of those deep in the struggle for civil rights. Sam Cooke wrote and performed a masterful piece which is as moving today as it was in 1963 when he put penned the classic. The song was released in 1964, celebrating its 50 birthday this year. Spike Lee masterfully placed the song in a pivotal scene in his 1992 film Malcolm X which introduced ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ to a new generation.
