“American Hustle” and “Gravity” dominated the nominations, earning 10 noms a piece, while “12 Years a Slave” followed with nine. All three earned nominations for best picture and best director.

“Captain Phillips,” “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Nebraska,””Her,” “Philomena” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” rounded out the roster of nine best picture nominees.

As far as “12 Years A Slave” is concerned … Steve McQueen, Chiwetel Egiofor and Lupita Nyong’o were nominated for best director, best lead actor and best supporting actress, respectively.

Meanwhile, the academy completely overlooked “Lee Daniels’ the Butler” along with its director and cast including Oprah Winfrey
