Before getting into the highly anticipated topic of the Affordable Healthcare Act/Obama Care on Sunday, October 13, Senator Vincent Hughes opened the show with a quick recap of the Eagles game. To speak on the important topic, Senator Hughes invited special guests Dr. Arthur Evans, Director of the Department of Behavioral Health, and colleague Shannon Mace, ACA Expert of the Department of Behavioral Health. After the intriguing discussion, Senator Hughes welcomed Katie Newsom Pastuszek, Executive Director of Philadelphia Outward Bound, to the show. She spoke about an exciting event coming up, which our very own Senator Hughes will take part in!

He will join local business leaders, fellow politicians, Philebrities, and youth groups as they rappel 31 stories down One Logan Square in Center City Philadelphia. The ‘Big Adventure 2013’ fundraiser supports scholarships for programs at the Outward Bound School. The adventurous fundraiser was designed to reflect the school’s innovative youth development mission, as well as encourage young people to step outside their comfort zones and discover what unfolds. Participants such as Senator Hughes and Mayor Nutter were tasked with raising $2,000 each in order to earn a spot to rappel. Proceeds from this daring event will provide local scholarships for students from under-served Philadelphia communities, teens who have suffered tragic losses, as well as support expeditions for Veterans from active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.
