The Philadelphia Housing Authority lifted the interim tag from its president and chief executive officer, according to reports.
Kelvin A. Jeremiah, who served as the interim executive director for the last nine months, was announced today as the official leader effective immediately, according to a news release.
“I am excited about PHA’’s future and the important work that lies ahead in rebuilding public confidence in PHA and helping the agency to meet its mission of providing decent, safe and well-maintained housing for residents of this great City,” Jeremiah said in a news release.
Jeremiah, who joined the PHA in 2011, will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations. He previously held the position of director for the Office of Audit and Compliance.
Former Executive Director Carl Greene, who was fired in September 2010, settled a federal lawsuit with the agency in early February for $625,000. PHA Commissioners tossed Greene after learning their executive director settled multiple sexual-harassment complaints against him without telling the agency.
Greene claimed the termination came without due process. The PHA paid $1 million to settle complaints made by four women.
