WHO THE F*** DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? No seriously, who do you think you are? I have gotten so fed up with people complaining about their situation. We live in a country where you are free to say what you want. You can picket and voice your opinion about anything. If you don’t like your situation, you are actually allowed to take the steps to change it. Crazy concept, I know…actually doing something to change your situation besides hope and pray.

I have had the pleasure of holding many jobs in my life. Many of which had nothing to do with what I really want to do in life. From working in a refrigerated warehouse that never got above 34 degrees to sitting in an office making phone calls and going on client lunches all day. And in this matrix of mediocrity that is my job history, I have seen so many people b***h and moan about their situation. Well surprise! No one is forcing you to be in that situation. The problem is so many of us are unwilling to put in the time it takes to make a change and survive at the same time.

Some may say I’m insensitive and I have gotten used to carrying that label around. But if someone being insensitive gets under your skin, then that is the problem. I completely understand that after a long day of work you are tired. It makes perfect sense to me that after dealing with so many annoying people for 8-10 hours straight can drain you. What I don’t understand is how you can be so averse to your situation, yet even more reluctant to make a change. I know its cliché, but no one ever said life was easy. And no one ever said being successful was easy. So the question is what you are going to do about it. We can all go to work for 40-50 hours a week and come home and that’s the basis of our life; our mediocre, lack luster, boring, redundant lives. We’re tired, drained, fatigued, mentally exhausted…but what are we going to do to change our situation.

If you work 40-50 hours a week and can pay your bills with that and still complain about your situation…I pity you. Let’s break it down, 24 hours in a day, 7 days in a week. That’s 168 hours in a week. And you only work 40-50 of them. Let’s suggest you get a full night of sleep EVERY NIGHT. That’s 56 hours of sleep. When it’s all said and done. You have 62 hours a week to live your dreams.

Maybe it’s just how I was brought up but having a full time job isn’t a good enough excuse to not chase what you really want out of life. If you are willing to give up that quickly, then you must not what it that bad.

I’ve ran into so many people either ungrateful for their situations (only work 3 days a week but make 60k) or that feel a false sense of entitlement (expect to make $20/hr for doing nothing). That irks my nerves like no other. I simply can’t deal with it.

I’ve ranted long enough. I say all that to say that if you only have one job, then you need to be doing something more to change your life. Stop using tired as an excuse. Quit finding a reason to not do what you love. Stop telling yourself that you will be too tired. Retire the idea that your dreams are so far out of reach that a few extra hours of dedication a week won’t help.

Go get what you love and stop making excuses.
