(Washington, DC) – Maryland U.S. Senator Ben Cardin is backing legislation to combat racial profiling following the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Cardin’s bill would link federal funding to anti-racial profiling policies. Basically, local and state law enforcement could lose federal money if they lack the policies. Trayvon Martin is the African American high school student in Florida, shot dead last month by neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman.
