The display windows of Barney’s on Madison Avenue are currently decorated as an homage to legendary model Iman in honor of her forthcoming Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America on June 7.

The display – which features a Bruce Weber portrait of the fashion icon, quotes about her from artists and style personalities, magazine covers (including Essence) photographs and collages – caused a bit of controversy because it included images of Iman’s bare breasts. Also, one of the photos shows a fully exposed male model.

Parents were outraged, as the naked images are in plain sight of pedestrians and at eye level for young children.

Neither Barneys nor its creative director Simon Doonan commented about the display, but on Thursday, the naked man had been moved to a less conspicuous spot farther back in the window, reports the New York Post’s Page Six.

Barneys, meanwhile, hosted a luncheon for Iman at her boutique yesterday afternoon, where her husband David Bowie, Desiree Rogers, Rachel Roy, Susan Fales-Hill, Kyle MacLachlan, Joe Zee and Bravo’s Andy Cohen were in attendance.
