With less than 72 hours left in the year, a few outliers have tried to turn tragedy into comedy by creating a series of GoFundMe campaigns to save actors Betty White, 94, and Morgan Freeman, 79, from the 2016 death curse.

Larry Mitchell created a "Send Me Back To Africa," GoFundMe page on July 7, one day after the police shooting death of Philando Castile and two days after an officer fatally wounded Alton Sterling. In the wake of the shooting, the nation has deepened a widening divide over race relations and policing.

In the aftermath of Alton Sterling’s death, many responded to the call to action to make this ongoing dialogue of police brutality in black and brown neighborhoods louder than ever. Actress and writer, Issa Rae, launched a GoFundMe for the 37-year-old’s kids which would help to further their education. Within nine hours, people raised nearly $300,000.
