One of Philly’s favorite annual tradition returns to the Mann Center in West Fairmount Park, rain or shine, on May 31 and June 1, 2025.
Curated and hosted by the legendary Roots crew, the 2025 festival boasts america’s favorite artists, including: GloRilla, Miguel, Tems, Latto, Kaytranada, and Jeezy. Uptown’s finest, Kur, will also be at the top of a stacked bill of established acts and rising stars.
A powerhouse lineup of acts will be headlined by neo-soul icon Maxwell, the legendary Lenny Kravitz, and Philadelphia’s own Meek Mill.
Meek Mill is scheduled to perform at the Roots Picnic 2025 in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 1. He is one of the headliners, along with Maxwell and Lenny Kravitz. The festival takes place at The Mann Center in Fairmount Park.
Meek rose to national stardom in the 2010’s, but was always a hood favorite coming up in North Philly. Meek’s journey towards success started at a young age when he began battle rapping on the streets of his hometown. This eventually led him to signing with T.I.’s label Grand Hustle Records in 2008.
However, it wasn’t until Meek signed with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group in 2011 that he gained mainstream attention. His “Flamerz” mixtape series was a must-have in the city, but “Dreamchasers” caught the attention of hip-hop fans worldwide, and established Meek as a force to be reckoned with in the rap game.
As we are days away from Roots Picnic 2025, we take a look back at the roots of Meek Mill’s music and some songs he should perform on his headlining set!
