However, it wasn’t until 1921 that promoter Harry Sharpe opened up the Blue Horizon, which became known as “the boxing cathedral” for its legendary fights and raucous atmosphere.

Philadelphia is known for producing some of the greatest fighters in the history of boxing. One of the most well-known is Joe Frazier, who rose to fame in the 1960s and became the undisputed heavyweight champion in 1970 after defeating Muhammad Ali.
