A body pulled from the Delaware River last week near the Navy Yard has been identified as that of a missing 14-year-old South Philadelphia boy who disappeared Christmas Eve.

A police marine unit found remains of Jason Vu Thursday near the Girard Point Bridge, said Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman.

Vu left his house Dec. 24 without his cell phone, wallet, or prescription glasses. His family discovered a note on his computer indicating that he was in a lot of emotional pain.

His family had posted a $10,000 reward in an effort to find him.

The Medical Examiners Office made the identification on Friday using dental records, Vanore said.
