Boy, 5, is injured by pickup at Bucks car wash

Falls Township, Bucks County, police were investigating an accident in which a 5-year-old boy was run over Sunday afternoon as a family member moved a pickup truck at a car wash in Fairless Hills.

Police Sgt. Ray Fanelli said the family arrived at the Magic Touch Car Wash, 1001 Trenton Rd., at 2:44 p.m. when a male adult decided to move the 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck from one vacuum-cleaning spot to another.

The boy ran along the passenger side of the truck and was run over, Fanelli said.

The driver stopped and tried to assist the boy, Fanelli said.

Medics from the Levittown Fairless Hills Rescue Squad treated and then transported the victim to St. Mary’s Hospital. From there he was flown by PENNSTAR helicopter to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The child was being treated there last night, Fanelli said. He would not disclose the boy’s identity because of his age. The child and his family member are residents of the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township.
