What makes a Man feel Special?
There’s an old saying, “Whatever you did to get him, you have to continue doing to keep him.” Yet, so often, after we’ve gotten the man, we neglect to do the things that made him feel so special during the dating phase, or worse, we fail to find new ways to make him feel special. When life presses down on your man, he looks to you to remind him that he’s significant, at least in your eyes. Therefore, it’s important to surprise him on occasion with actions that show him how much he means to you, and it’s just as critical to do little things, everyday, that let him know he’s special.
Following are things you can do every day to let your man know he’s special:
1. Show him respect – Be his woman, not his critic
2. Listen when he speaks – Don’t cut him off
3. Cook the foods he likes, and learn the recipes of the foods he orders at restaurants
4. Stock his favorite foods and hide them from the kids
5. Buy extras of his brand of deodorant, toothpaste, razors, and body wash
6. Find out what he likes to see you wearing, how he likes your hair, which of your fragrances he prefers, and get dressed up for him
7. Take an interest in the things HE likes – take a class, read a book, learn about sports, or just cheer for and support his team
8. Support his dreams and encourage him to strive for them– “Be the wind at his back, not the spit in his face.”
Every now and then, it’s important to plan activities and special occasions that show your man how much he means to you. These aren’t everyday things, these will take planning!
1. Plan outing based on things he likes to do and happily go along with him.
2. Give him some “Man-time”, meaning give him some quality time alone. If you know his team is playing tomorrow, buy him some buffalo wings, a six-pack, and two bags of his favorite chips, take the kids, and leave for the duration of the game. Allow him to relax, eat his food, and watch sports in peace.
3. Put on a show for him – Put on a performance for your man! If you can’t sing, lip sync. If you can’t dance, take a class! Put on your Freak-um dress and do a show! Don’t take yourself so seriously! Have fun with it!
4. Plan a pamper day for him – Make arrangements for a Spa day at one of the nice spas in town, or pamper him yourself at home.
5. Switch up the normal routine – Get up early and have a romantic breakfast in bed. Have a hot bath waiting for him when he gets home, light candles and have relaxing music playing for him. Don’t let your relationship get boring!
These are just a few ideas to get your started with making your man feel special. Keep in mind, however, that the most important and loving thing you can do for your man is to pay attention to the details, the little things that make feel special. To be fully known and fully loved is the beginning of intimacy. If he needs lots of attention, be sure you’re the one providing it. If he needs reassurance, be sure to speak to him in an encouraging manner. If he likes receiving little gifts, be sure to pick something up for him when you’re out.
Remember, you look to each other for love, support and encouragement. Make sure you’re the one meeting his need to feel special.
