Meek Mill and Temple University Bring Dream Chasers Summit Back to Philadelphia

Philadelphia native Meek Mill is partnering with Temple University to bring the Dream Chasers Summit back to campus, giving young people an opportunity to learn from leaders in music, sports, entertainment, business and community.

The second edition of the summit will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Temple’s Liacouras Center. The event is open to all Temple students, along with 300 specially selected high school seniors from the School District of Philadelphia.

The summit will feature interactive panels organized around three themes: “Dreams and Nightmares,” focusing on culture, music and ownership; “Championships,” centered on sports, leadership and legacy; and “Wins and Losses,” covering community, careers and second chances.

“Our community has been starved of resources and starved of opportunity,” Meek Mill said. “The Dream Chasers Summit exists to change that. We are investing in the next generation, giving them insider access to elite expertise to ignite hope and turn dream chasers into reality makers.”

Temple President John Fry said the university is proud to partner with Meek Mill and create opportunities for students to connect with influential figures across several industries.

The event will open with a keynote from Meek titled “From North Philadelphia to Global Impact, where he will discuss his journey and encourage students to consider what they are willing to pursue to achieve their goals.

“Temple isn’t just a university; it is the very heartbeat of Philadelphia,” Meek said. “Philly is where I found my purpose, where I found my people and where I grew up. It will always hold a piece of my soul.”

Several professional athletes and musical artists are expected to participate, with additional speakers to be announced in the coming weeks. Temple alumnus Larry Miller, chair of the Advisory Board for Nike’s Jordan Brand, has already been confirmed as a panelist and will participate in a featured conversation with Meek.

The summit previously took place at Temple in August 2013. This year’s return aims to connect Philadelphia students with mentors, career opportunities and firsthand insight into turning ambition into achievement.
