Heat Advisory, Flood Watch Issued for Philadelphia Region

Residents across the Philadelphia region are being urged to stay alert as extensive heat, as well as a round of heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected to bring the risk of flash flooding through the area.

Forecasters have issued a flood watch for southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey, and Delaware, warning that repeated downpours could overwhelm roadways, poor drainage areas, and small streams. Some locations could receive several inches of rain in a short period, increasing the likelihood of localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service, motorists should remember the safety slogan: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” as even a small amount of moving water can sweep away a vehicle.
