Patti LaBelle’s debut as Funmilayo Kuti (spirit of Fela’s mother) in the Broadway production of “Fela!” (produced by Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett) was a star studded event. “Fela!” is the story of Nigerian musician, human rights activist and political figure Fela Kuti. This Tony Award winning show continues to amaze audiences especially with the addition of Ms. LaBelle. Patti only had two weeks to prepare for this demanding role.
