Let the black excellence continue.

On the heels of winning an Emmy at the inaugural Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is coming back for more. Disney+ announced the second season is premiering on February 1st. The reboot of the early 2000 Disney Channel hit has clearly done well for it’s first season. Creator and executive producer Bruce W. Smith, and executive producer Ralph Farquhar, brought back original cast members like Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, JoMarie Payton, Cedric the Entertainer, etc. and revived the feeling of the original kid’s show that explored the lives of black and brown characters. Season 2 is looking to provide an even more detailed look into Black culture with topics including self-worth, interracial dating and Juneteenth.

The upcoming season is even bringing new original songs along with new guest stars.  Gabrielle Union, Chance the Rapper, Leslie Odom, Jr., Holly Robinson Peete, Normani, Anthony Anderson, Courtney B. Vance and Storm Reid are expected to pop up in the show. Even Olympics gymnasts Dominique Dawes, Gabby Douglas and Laurie Hernandez are showing up as themselves. It’s clear that Normani will play a bigger role in the new season as she plays character “Giselle”. Composer Kurt Farquhar and Normani co-wrote a new song called “You’re Lucky I Let You Love Me,” with Mariah Meshae and Nkenge Kamau.

There’s even an upcoming product line coming for the proudest family. A cross-category product line of apparel, home, stationery, toys, and collectibles. Fans can also listen to music from the series on the show’s official playlist.
