SZA relived a childhood moment at the recent VMAs. The singer had a fan moment while entering the award show when she saw Ashanti and Ja Rule doing an interview.
SZA couldn’t help but interrupt the veteran artists so she could give her flowers to Ashanti.
The “CTRL” singer explained that while she was a young teen she had waited ten and a half hours to get Ashanti’s signature. “I had braces in and everything — I have a picture of us together —Your mom was like ‘you’re so sweet!,” SZA recalled as Ashanti laughed. “And it was so amazing. I will wait a million years for you for the rest of my life. You’re so amazing…you’re like perfect.”
SZA also told Ja Rule how amazing he was and how he changed her life, he reciprocated the love telling SZA, “I love your f__kin music big time.”
SZA continued to be on cloud nine as she won a VMA for her work on Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” the duo won Best Collaboration.
