Want to gain a movie role alongside actor Idris Elba or simply take a gander at People’s 2018 “Sexiest Man Alive?” Well, you’re in luck!

The Greater Philadelphia Film office recently released a casting call for extras to appear in Elba’s upcoming film, Ghetto Cowboy, based on North Philadelphia’s very own Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club.

This film adaptation from Greg Neri’s award-winning novel focuses on the story’s protagonist Cole, a young boy who is introduced to the world of urban horseback riding after moving from Detroit to live with his father played by Idris Elba.

What makes this film about black cowboys from North Philadelphia even better is the amount of Philly talent involved in creating the project.

Empire’s Lee Daniels and owner of Brewerytown’s Neighborhood Film Company, Ricky Staub are set to team up to produce the film alongside Elba. Ghetto Cowboy will be Staub’s directorial debut since the release of his short-film, The Cage, which depicts life in North Philadelphia.

This, however, is not Elba’s first time at the rodeo when it comes to producing. The 46-year-old actor made his directional debut in the 2018 United Kingdom drama Yardie, which received mixed reviews at the box office.

Elba and the all-star Philly production team are expected to film in town from Aug. 5 to Aug 30.
