Anita Baker To Receive Lifetime Achievement Honors At This Year’s BET Awards this Sunday. The 2018 BET Awards will be honoring the Detroit native,with the Lifetime Achievement Award during what she says will be her farewell year.
Baker released her renowned album, Rapture, in 1986. The hit album peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and produced hits like “Sweet Love” and “Caught Up In The Rapture Of Love.” Baker took the late ‘80s by storm and grew to be a mega star by creating chart-topping hit after hit. The star’s music jolted her to newer heights resulting in winning multiple Grammy Awards. Baker also set out for her first tour, The Rapture Tour, in ’86 through ’87.
