Finance It Girl…ahem woman Mellody Hobson as been helping us get our money straight for decades. Her resume is impressive and inspiring. The Chicago native is a graduate of Princeton University. Shas been the President of Ariel Investments, LLC, the largest African American owned money manager in the US since 2000. Her business savvy has lead her to sit on the board of Dreamworks Animation, Groupon, Starbucks and beauty giant Estee Lauder.
On the heels of Starbucks racial incident and sensitivity training, Hobson is taking over as Chairwoman at the end of the month at a pivotal moment for the coffee brand. She will replace Howard Schultz who has been the board Chairman for the past 36 years.
Hobson has made financial literacy her platform appearing as a financial contributor for CBS, ABC and Black Enterprise Maganize. She is also married to Star Wars creator George Lucas.
She is sure to set a new standard at Starbuck!
