Ryan Coffman (Tobacco Policy and Control Program Manager) from SmokeFreePhilly.org was live with Karen Vaughn on 100.3 WRNB discussing the dangers in flavored tobacco and the hearing happening June 5th @ City Hall in Philadelphia! This is VERY important for the community, youth, and parents to understand!

“The public hearing on the flavored tobacco legislation will be held on Tuesday, 6/5/18, at 1pm in Council Chambers on the 4th floor of City Hall.  Due to other bills being heard, the hearing may not start precisely at 1pm. Please feel free to share this important hearing with your partners and networks.  Thank you so much for your commitment to addressing flavored tobacco and its impact on youth in Philadelphia.

Also, we wanted to share another piece of tobacco legislation that was introduced in City Council recently. If passed, this legislation would remove the provision prohibiting the ability of tobacco retailers to transfer their tobacco permit to the new business owner. This would delay, potentially by decades, the decline in tobacco retailers in the city and increase the number of retailers selling tobacco near schools, in communities of color and in low-income communities.”
