A new, gritty, tell all documentary about the rise and fall of the night club phenomenon, studio 54 is hitting theaters this summer.

Steve Rubell  and Ian Shrager opened Studio 54’s doors in April 1977 and gave birth to a night club scene unlike anything New York City had ever experienced. Drugs, sex, celebrities, scandal, and unprecedented exclusivity, made Studio 54 legendary.

“You can see Steve and I really expose—not a lot of people know what it was like. It was a really traumatic and emotional experience: It was almost like a Frankenstein monster that tried to kill its creators,” Ian Shrager, co-founder of the iconic night club, Studio 54 recently told Page Six.

The film is set to hit theaters June 15th. Watch the trailer below:
