If you have any secrets to tell your friends, don’t discuss them through Facebook! According to a recent statement from Facebook, Messenger scans photos and links sent by users on the messaging platform. They are analyzed for violation of Facebook’s conduct policies and if they are flagged by the automated system, they are then read by moderators.
Facebook Messenger does not automatically provide end-to-end encryption and you must activate “secret conversations” on the Messenger platform in order to take advantage of encryption.
