Donald Glover was nominated for directing the “B.A.N.” episode of Atlanta where Paper Boi was a guest on a Charlie Rose talk show.

Glover made history as the first black person to win an Emmy for directing for a comedy. Glover is also the first director to win for a show he acted in since Alan Alda won for “MASH” in 1977.

During his speech, Glover gave his family and director Hiro Murai a shout-out saying, “This really belongs to Hiro Murai. He taught me everything about directing. He had the eye for this show and he’s just amazing. I really want to give this to Hiro and just say ‘I love you and thank you for being my best friend.”

Congratulations Donald Glover! This is a huge accomplishment for Glover, African-Americans and Atlanta!
