The Epiphany singer, Chrisette Michele, sat down with Billboard and discussed her feelings on being disowned by her family, industry friends, and not having the opportunity to meet Donald Trump.

“My family has disowned me. If you decide to Google me, you’ll see that America is writing about me in their newspapers. I’m the black poster child for discord right now, and he’s not going to shake my hand?” So no, I didn’t get to meet him.”

Once Chrisette made it clear she didn’t get to meet Trump she didn’t feel that was a slap in her face. Although not meeting trump and social media didn’t affect her as much, the backlash she received from Spike lee and Questlove did.

“The two biggest things that I did experience internally was two celebrities who I had much respect for: Questlove and Spike Lee. Those were kind of the two things that I took a look at.”

Moral of the story: Stand for something or fall for anything! Chrisette if you believed in what you did then stand on that, as Spike and Quest stand on their beliefs.
