It’s STEVIE WONDER! The multi-platinum, multi-grammy (25 of ‘em!) multi-everything artist announced on Thursday, Sept. 11th, a ten city North American tour, and yep, he’s coming to Philly November 16th. Billed as the Songs In The Key Of Life Performance, the concerts will feature live adaptations of the music from that iconic album. Starting at Madison Square Garden on November 6th, he’ll visit Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia and other cities, concluding in Oakland, California December 5th. Tickets go on sale here on September 22nd.
Stevie rarely tours these days, so needless to say, this tour is eagerly anticipated by fans of all ages who haven’t seen Stevie in concert in quite a few years. Stevie Wonder is the recipient of 25 Grammy awards and has amassed over 100 million album sales worldwide. He’s had 49 top 40 singles, 32 of which hit number 1 on the charts. In addition, he has both Oscar and Golden Globe Awards and is a member of the Rock and Roll, Songwriters and NAACP Halls of Fame, and received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, the youngest to do so at the time. His activism in helping make Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday a national holiday also gave his unmistakable “alternative” happy birthday song. Having seen him more than once I can testify that he’s an AWESOME live performer! I’ll be there; and if you love good music, I’d suggest you be there, too!
