64 year old distance swimmer Diana Nyad became the 1st person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage! Nyad was greeted by cheering crowds as she swam into Key West after nearly 53 hours of swiming. In case you’re wondering how many miles that is I’ll tell you! IT’S 110 MILES!!! How many of you can do that?!
“I’m beaming with pride,” Nyad told NBC News as supporters mobbed her stretcher before she was taken by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation.
