Fifty years ago the oppression we faced was extremely overt. During the past fifty years the oppression of our people has been less overt, causing us to believe that we have advanced.
Some would suggest that we have enjoyed the fruits of integration – education, jobs with great pay, the ability to purchase a home and raise a family. While we may think these things demonstrate that we have reached Dr. King’s dream; I would argue we are still very far from that dream.
There’s still lots of work to do.
