Syreeta Scott combined a facility for numbers and a love of African culture and turned them into one of Philadelphia’s fastest growing hair care salons for natural Black hair. A nationally recognized business, Duafe Holistic Hair Care has been featured in The Oprah Magazine,Newsweek, Ebony, Vibe, Honey, The Source, Essence and People Magazines.

Scott started her hair care business in her mother’s West Philadelphia home seven years ago. Today her client list includes Smokey Robinson, Jill Scott, ?uest Love, Floetry, Kindred, Sonia Sanchez, Tye Tribbett, Lalah Hathaway, Ben Vereen, Res, Rich Medina, Vivian Green, Veronica Chambers, Lisa Cortez, including our very own Dyana Williams!  Also some of Philadelphia’s most recognized business, corporate and community leaders. The business has received citywide recognition and numerous awards for its innovative marketing savvy and for establishing its product brand in a market dominated by non-Blacks.

Duafe occupies a three-story brownstone in Brewery Town and includes a nail salon, a clothing boutique “ B”, and an African Art gallery and features its own line of hair care and beauty products developed by Scott. The product line includes all natural hair and body oils, holistic gels, and pomades.

Scott taught natural hair care and braiding classes at Temple University’s Pan African Studies Community Education Program (PASCEP). She is a frequent participant in Black hair care seminars, workshops and lectures on entrepreneurship and the importance of Black-owned business. Scott is also an active board member within The Art Sanctuary and Jill Scott’s Blues Babe Foundation.
