CLOSE

With all the laying off and school closings the Philadelphia’s School District has done this year, you would think things couldn’t get any worst. School District Superintendent William Hite is calming he needs an additional $50 Million in funding to be able to open up schools by next month. Hite is unsure at the moment whether the city will provide the money to help close a $300 million deficit.

More than 200,000 students are scheduled to return back to their classrooms on September. 9th, but if the city doesn’t  receive at least $50 million by Friday, August 16th, the School District of Philadelphia will be forced to consider alternatives to starting the 2013-14 school year on Monday September 9th.
