We have a winner in the record breaking Powerball drawing – multiple winners, actually. And even though no one in our area hit the jackpot, there will still be some pretty happy people this morning.

The two winning tickets were sold in Arizona and Missouri. But Action News has learned that eight $1 million ticket were sold in New Jersey and at least one was sold in Pennsylvania. Those $1 million tickets matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball.

Exactly where those winning $1 million tickets were sold is not yet known.

Take a look at the winning numbers and see if you may be a winner: 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and Powerball of 6.

Tickets were selling at 130,000 per minute nationwide leading into Wednesday night’s drawing, as folks made sure they had a shot at the second largest lottery payout in U.S. history.

Late Wednesday the jackpot shot up to $579.9 million, making the cash option $379.8 million. The jackpot had rolled over 16 consecutive times without a winner before two tickets struck it big last night, matching all six numbers.

According to Multi-State Lottery Association there were $40 billion in lottery prizes awarded in the U.S. last year and around $800 million in winnings were not collected, so don’t toss your ticket away.
