They rescue people from burning buildings, laugh in the face of danger, and risk their lives to save people they don’t even know. Firefighters are a fantasy for many women. In these days of metrosexuality and man pedicures, manly men are becoming a dying breed, and firefighters represent traditional masculinity. This doesn’t mean women want a guy who gets into fistfights and chugs beer with a vengeance or that they don’t want a guy who is romantic and emotionally sensitive as well. But sometimes you just have to man up if you want to get the girl. While you might not be joining the fire department any time soon, you can learn a thing or two about why firefighters get women so hot and bothered and how you can incorporate a few of their traits into your own game and get the ladies to swoon over you.

Firefighters Are Decisive
It goes without saying that anyone who willingly walks into a blazing inferno has balls of steel. But it’s not just about being brave in the face of danger; it’s about doing so without waffling back and forth about it. Decisiveness will no doubt bring out a woman’s inner cavewoman any day. A man who is decisive signals to a woman that he is able to make decisions quickly and take care of her in any unforeseen circumstances: burglary, creepy old men, earthquakes, or in the case of a cavewoman, large animals.
How you can be decisive: We might not be living among lions and tigers anymore, but it wouldn’t hurt to kill a bug or two next time your girl freaks out over an insect. And do it quickly, without a second thought. Sure, roaches might make you want to hurl, but unless she’s a vegan, suck it up and kill the creature, and don’t let her see how grossed out you are. Whatever situation life might throw you, keep your game face on and tackle it quickly without complaining, and you’ll be a god in her eyes.
Firefighters Take Control
Firefighters know how to remain strong and keep their cool in the most stressful of situations. All that running into burning buildings wouldn’t be sexy — or considered particularly valiant — if they were to talk about how they actually wanted to piss themselves the whole time.
How you can be valiant: Men should be able to hold it down when there’s a catastrophe. Whether it’s a health scare, a car accident or a job loss, you should be able to take control of the situation without losing your cool. Life throws everyone curve balls — it’s how you handle them that counts.
Firefighters Take Risks
Sure, they might die, but firefighters are willing to take that risk nonetheless for the greater good. Firefighters don’t have time to make pro and con lists or to calculate the nitty-gritty. They take charge, and they do it quickly. Not wussing out is a major turn-on to women who want a guy who is strong and protective.
How you can take risks: You don’t have to risk death, but risks within reason are good for you. Ask your boss for that raise. Go skydiving. Do that thing you always wanted to do but that scared the crap out of you. Ride a motorcycle every now and then and own it. Yes, she might be a little scared on your behalf, but inside she’ll be swooning over your manliness.
Firefighters Are Selfless
Firefighters care not only for their fellow firefighters, but for their fellow human beings. That’s what sets them apart. Being able to put aside your own needs for someone else is hot. This doesn’t mean you have to be a doormat, but it does mean you should make an effort to help others. Of course a woman wants to know you care about her, but when you show her you care about others, you go from a regular guy to a hero.
How you can be selfless: Hold doors open for people. Help little old ladies with their bags. Always let a woman walk through a door first. Hold the elevator for someone running to catch it. Be friendly and polite to everyone and not just when you’re hitting on a chick.
Firefighters Are Strong
When a firefighter has all his gear on, he’s carrying close to an extra 115 pounds. Add to the fact that they’re climbing up stairs, wrangling hoses and putting out fires, and you’ve got a group of guys that are pretty damn tough.
How you can be strong: Pick up her heavy suitcase or box. Help her move. Get things from shelves that are too high for her to reach. Do not under any circumstances watch as she struggles to pick something up. You will lose big time.
Firefighters Are Confident
Firefighters are nothing if not self-assured. With the risk-taking, courageousness and constant reverence from others combined, it’s no wonder that most firefighters are pretty comfortable with themselves. It’s the oldest rule in the book: Confidence is hot. And if you think you’re awesome, chances are she will too. It doesn’t matter if you look like Brad Pitt or not — confidence is key.
How you can be confident: You don’t like whiny, insecure girls, so why would she like a whiny, insecure guy? Don’t get jealous of her guy friends or coworkers. Don’t seek validation from others. Hold your own, and believe in your own manhood.
