Fat Joe hosted the BET Hip Hop Awards for the third year in a row. There were a number of memorable performances like 2 Chainz, 310babii, Big Boogie, GloRilla, Bossman Dlow, E-40, Juicy J, “All the Way Turnt Up” collaborators Soulja Boy and Roscoe Dash as well as the ladies representing the 305, Trina and Yung Miami.
It was an action packed night in Vegas as Travis Scott was presented with the I Am Hip Hop Award by Teyana Taylor and Tyla. The Houston rapper was extremely grateful for the recognition, almost in disbelief that he made received it.

“I come from this generation where they considered us nowhere near hip-hop and every day I tried to push the sound,” Scott said. “And coming in as a producer, nobody knew what the f–k I was tryna do. But I always had this idea and I had this vision still to this day to take this sound and take things to the next level.”
Kendrick Lamar added to his impressive year with eight victories out of the 11 nominations he received, including artist of the year. Though Megan Thee Stallion raked in 12 nominations, she walked away emptyhanded thanks to K Dot’s numerous wins.
One of the major highlights was the venue itself. Fans couldn’t get enough of Club BET. While the city provided a flashy, vibrant backdrop fitting for a celebration of hip-hop, some fans expressed mixed feelings about the move from down south, where the awards have a long history. Las Vegas brought a fresh energy, but for many, Atlanta remains the heart of Southern hip-hop, leaving some viewers nostalgic for past ceremonies.
The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards celebrated the genre’s evolution while maintaining a balance between honoring its roots and highlighting the next generation of artists. As always, it left fans excited for what’s next in hip-hop.
