Grammy Award-winning songbird, Stephanie Mills, best known for her hits “Put Your Body In It” and “ You Can Get Over,” is releasing her first single, “Yesterday” from her upcoming CD Breathless.

The album is being released independently on the singer’s own label, CJ Entertainment, and will be available in early summer 2010, according to a press release. The powerful-voiced singer is also a talented songwriter, and composed eight of the 10 tracks on Breathless.

“I am excited about releasing my new CD,” Mills said in a statement. “I worked very hard with an Atlanta-based producer, Josiah Martin, who gave Breathless a 2010 sound without sacrificing my voice and vocal style.”

She added, “‘Yesterday’ is a very special tribute song. I recorded it in memory of my dear friend Michael Jackson.”

Mills will perform July 10 at The Birchmere in Washington, D.C.
